The sunny season (unless you're in the UK right now!) brings a wealth of opportunities to capture captivating images that showcase your products in the best light. From beachy props to vibrant locations, it's easy to infuse the essence of summer into your product photography. Here are my top tips to create stunning summer product photography.
Props
For a coastal charm, gather some seashells, a bit of sand, place your product strategically amidst these props, to evoke a sense of a seaside getaway.
Nothing says summer like colourful, juicy fruits! Add slices of watermelon, lemons, or berries to your photoshoot to convey freshness and vibrancy. These elements not only complement your products but also add a pop of colour.
Incorporate palm leaves and tropical flowers like hibiscus to transport your audience to an island paradise.

On Location
When thinking about locations, here are a few of my favourites:
Botanical Gardens where colourful flowers and plants can serve as natural backdrops for your product photos.
Sandy Beaches for the perfect summer, relaxed vibe.
Urban Areas, vibrant street art and modern architecture in cities add an edgy feel to your product photos.
Parks for greenery and open spaces that provide a versatile setting for a wide range of products.

Light
I'm a huge fan of shadow work (which is easy to achieve in the summer months) but it's important to consider the harsh sunlight and its effects on your images. To minimise harsh shadows (if that's not the look you're going for) and overexposure, try shooting early in the morning or later in the afternoon when the light is softer.

The relaxed and casual atmosphere of outdoor settings can help showcase products in a more relatable and engaging manner. Embracing outdoor summer product photography can truly elevate a brand's visual identity and marketing efforts with a fresh perspective.
